About Me

IMG_0196.jpg

I am an Exercise Science student at IU Indianapolis on the pre-physical therapy track. Over the past few years, my experiences in the classroom and in clinical settings have helped me grow from a student learning concepts to beginning to understand what it means to work in a professional healthcare environment.

One of the most influential experiences in my development has been working as a rehabilitation aide in an outpatient physical therapy clinic, Athletico. Being in the clinic has allowed me to see how exercises, injury management, and recovery plans look in real life, not just on paper. Through this role, I have strengthened my communication skills by interacting with patients daily and learning how to give clear cues, encouragement, and support. I have also developed critical thinking by observing how therapists adjust treatments based on patient progress and individual needs.

My coursework in Exercise Science has also shaped how I approach learning and problem-solving. Classes focused on biomechanics, movement, and exercise prescription have pushed me to think more critically about how the body functions and how injuries impact movement. These experiences have helped me grow in professionalism, especially in how I prepare for class, manage my time, and take responsibility for my learning and performance.

I value patience, empathy, and continuous improvement in both academic and clinical settings. These values guide how I interact with patients, peers, and supervisors and motivate me to seek feedback and apply it to improve. As I prepare for graduate school in physical therapy, I am focused on continuing to develop the skills and mindset needed to provide effective, compassionate care.
